Allegations of Research Misconduct

Bahtsuna: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Islam considers research misconduct to include fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, and plagiarism during the planning, execution, review, and reporting of research. The journal is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record.

In handling suspected research misconduct, the editorial team and Editorial Board follow the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), including relevant guidance on addressing fabrication and falsification. The process begins with an internal assessment by the editors. Manuscripts under review that are found to involve research misconduct will be rejected. For published articles, the journal may issue a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction, as appropriate, with a clear link to the original publication.

The first step in this procedure is to assess the credibility of the allegation, determine whether the reported conduct falls within the definition of research misconduct, and identify any potential conflicts of interest involving the complainant or other parties.

If the allegation indicates a substantial irregularity, the editorial team will contact the corresponding author and request an official response on behalf of all co-authors. After evaluating the response and available evidence, the editors may consult independent experts, including statistical reviewers, when necessary. If research misconduct is unlikely and the issue is attributable to an honest or minor error, the matter may be resolved through clarification, additional analysis, or the publication of a correction notice, as appropriate.

The journal also recognizes the importance of the authors' affiliated institutions in investigating allegations of research misconduct. Cooperation among authors, editors, journals, and institutions is essential to ensuring a fair, transparent, and thorough process.

Through appropriate actions, ranging from corrections and expressions of concern to article retractions, Bahtsuna: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Islam is committed to safeguarding the validity, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly record.
