Conflict of Interest Policy

Conflict of Interest Policy

Bahtsuna: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Islam requires all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, reviewers, and editors, to disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that could influence the objectivity, integrity, or credibility of scholarly work. This policy follows the principles and relevant guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). The journal upholds the principle: when in doubt, disclose.

Scope of Conflicts of Interest

Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Financial Conflicts of Interest: Research funding, grants, salaries, honoraria, stock ownership, or other financial support from individuals or organizations with an interest in the research outcomes.

  2. Non-Financial Conflicts of Interest: Personal or family relationships, institutional affiliations, political connections, academic rivalries, or professional relationships with research participants that could compromise objectivity, such as conducting research involving one's own students or institution.

Guidelines for Reviewers and Editors

Reviewers must decline an invitation to review a manuscript if they have a close personal or family relationship with the authors, share an institutional affiliation that could compromise impartiality, have collaborated with the authors within the past three years, or have other financial, professional, or academic conflicts of interest that may affect their judgment.

Editors must not handle manuscripts in which they have an actual or potential conflict of interest. Manuscripts submitted by editors or members of the Editorial Board will be assigned to an independent editor who has no conflict of interest. Such manuscripts will undergo the journal's established double-anonymous peer-review process to ensure fairness and impartiality.

Undisclosed Conflicts of Interest and Actions

Failure to disclose an actual or potential conflict of interest, whether intentional or unintentional, may result in appropriate editorial action. Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, actions may include manuscript rejection, publication of a correction notice (corrigendum), an expression of concern, or retraction of a published article.

Through this policy, Bahtsuna: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Islam is committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical standards throughout the scholarly publishing process.
